Geotechnical Engineering
SEC undertake Geotechnical assessments to provide Clients with advice in relation to foundation design, slope stability and pile design. Given our comprehensive service, geotechnical investigations can be seamlessly integrated with geo-environmental assessments resulting in a more time and cost efficient ground assessment.
Exploratory Site Investigation Methods
Sevenoaks Environmental Consultancy employ a number of different in-situ methods to carry out both factual and interpretative Geotechnical Site Investigations including:
- Hand excavated trial pits
- Mechanically excavated trial pits
- Windowless sampler / Continuous Dynamic Sampler mini boreholes
- Dynamic probes
- Cable percussive drilling (with in-situ SPT / CPT and U100 tests)
- Rotary drilling
- In-situ CBRs
- Plate load bearing tests

Effective Drainage Solutions
To help inform drainage strategy we also conduct soakage tests to comply with BRE365 guidance in order to determine whether soakaways would be an effective drainage solution at a particular site. Soakaways are typically used to collect surface runoff prior to being discharged into the surrounding ground.
