Soakage Testing and Groundwater Monitoring Services
To help reduce flood risk from new developments, current environmental guidelines encourage strategies that limit surface water runoff. This includes designing sustainable drainage systems that discharge into existing sewers or soakaways wherever possible, rather than allowing rapid runoff into watercourses.

BRE365 Soakage Testing Services
When planning drainage, engineers must assess whether soakaways on site can handle runoff from roofs and paved surfaces. In many cases, water authorities will only approve connections to existing drainage networks if there is clear evidence that soakaways are not a viable solution.
Where early drainage data is needed, we carry out soakage tests using boreholes and trial pits to determine infiltration rates. For full design purposes, we offer detailed soakage testing in line with Building Research Establishment (BRE) Digest 365 standards.
Monitoring groundwater levels during the winter months is also often required by councils or building warranty providers. We install standpipes with data loggers that track groundwater levels continuously, allowing for accurate data collection without repeated site visits.
